Hello! Welcome to moxy.! I consider myself an urban forager, a salvage artist, and a treasure hunter. I specialize in resale goods and services, and I also repurpose old items to be new again!
One of my favourite mission statements has always been, “Having fun while being the best.” I have always wanted to own my own business, and the excitement of buying and selling second hand has continually been a passion.
When I applied for my last job, my old boss and now lifetime friend described me as having “moxie”. Several synonyms for moxie are vigor, verve, pep, courage, nerve, skill, and know-how. Also: The ability to face difficulty with spirit and courage, aggressive energy, and initiative. I think this describes me fairly well, and a name was born.
I have always wanted to own my own business. After 20 years of sales, customer service, and management experience, putting in my daily 200% to line someone else’s pockets, I finally feel like I have the knowledge and drive to put my dream together.
Second hand shopping, flea markets, and garage sales have been a long time interest of mine. I like the idea of the fact that not only are these things reusable and previously loved, but also that there is a story behind each one… maybe some stories more interesting than others, but to me, interesting just the same. It’s an adventure every time I step out the door, and a challenge every time someone asks for something new…
A few years ago, I collected enough inventory to set up a small booth in a local flea market, and as it turned out, that flea market never opened. However, the idea was already planted in my head, and over the years, it grew.
As I’m sure happens to everyone, I had a very personally trying year around that same time, and due to financial reasons, decided to “sell everything that wasn’t nailed down”, both flea market inventory, personal, and household items. Long story short, I managed to climb out of a substantial amount of debt in an amazingly short period of time… and proved to myself that if I could do that, I could do it full time… by myself, for myself.
In our current economic times, second hand shopping and “picking” are becoming more mainstream than ever before.Television shows like “Pawn Stars” and “American Pickers” have become quintessential in bringing these ideas to the forefront of the American mind. Not only is it important to reduce our carbon footprint, but now people are starting to realize, “Hey, I can make money doing this!”

moxy. is not only a place you happen past, but it will for many people become a destination point. Picture walking into my shop and being greeted by these laughing beauties, and five of their closest friends… welcoming you in to have as much fun as they are having… when I saw them I knew I had to have them, and when they finally arrived in the mail, I literally laughed out loud.
In the corner sits a fish tank on a stand, full of origami fish… whimsical Brazilian or Zydeco music dances over your head… I want my customers to have as much fun when they come to moxy. as I have had making it possible.

Not only do I provide a hand picked array of quality second hand items, both common and unique, but I will also provide new artwork from an array of extremely talented artists and artisans including items such as paintings, handmade jewelry, lotions, and soap.
In addition, I will provide you a service. Want it? I have it. If I don’t have it… I will find it. If you don’t have the time or inclination to find something you want, I will find it for you. Same thing goes for things you don’t want, moxy. will sell it for you. I want moxy. to be more upscale than Salvation Army or the Swap Shop, but not as snooty as an antique place… it’s a shop, not a museum!
What makes me different than any other second hand or resale thrift shop? A few things. I have a passion for what I do. I care about the customer. I’m willing to go that extra mile. I’m creative, energetic, and driven. And I am GOOD at it. Customer service has gone downhill so much in recent years. When is the last time you walked into a store and the person behind the counter actually approached you to see if you needed help, and seemed to care about finding something for you? I have 20 years of customer service under my belt… That’s what I am going to strive for that will set me apart from the rest, and I will ensure that my staff has the same level of care and “moxie” that I do.
And… the monkey. Made by my niece Brianna. She bought the kit at a local craft store. There wasn’t enough string, the instructions weren’t quite clear, but she made the best of it anyway. Funny, because that’s what I intend to do. I don’t have a clear, concise, written set of instructions, but I will take what I have, and make the best of it. As soon as I saw him, I knew he had to be my mascot.
I have an array of different things you will be able to find at moxy. Everything from toys to vintage cameras, jewelry to funky sunglasses… and the one and only all vegan and vegetarian soaps and lotions made by Funk Off!
So, my contact information is here... but you can email me at [email protected]!
And remember: moxy. I sell stuff you didn’t even know you wanted!
