I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. With Christmas right around the corner, we somehow get lost in the hectic shuffle of the holidays. To this I say: Step back, and breathe.
This can be a tense time for some, or a sad time for others. Facing loss of loved ones or friends can often be brought to the surface with the holidays. I just want everyone to know that amidst these feelings of sadness, we should concentrate on the good things and what we DO have.
Watch a movie together. Make some cookies together. Enjoy a cup of tea together. Just enjoy each other. I urge you to do this not only now, but year 'round.
I have been seeing in the news lately about #26Acts. This is a movement of people performing random acts of kindness in memory of the children killed in last week's shootings. A wonderful sentiment. Personally, I have always been a fan and purveyor of random acts. Say hello to a stranger. Buy the person behind you in line their coffee. It makes people smile, and even wonder why... but that is why they are called "random" acts. I am a big fan of paying it forward!
Take life by the reins! We are all in control of our lives and our actions. Even though we may not always say it, maybe we can start doing something, no matter how little, to show each other that we care.
Happy Holidays!
